After last year’s tour I made a few key observations which have really formulated my thinking for this year.
- It was way too hot.
- It never felt remote, and I missed the open spaces of Finland and Scotland.
- There were not many “travellers”, plenty of cyclists and tourists, but nobody getting away from well trodden paths.
- And the target wasn’t challenging enough, leading to me taking easy days (not helped by the heat, but that’s just an excuse).
So this year, a remote, cold and impossible target, well off the beaten track.

Reykjavik overland, with plenty of boats and a few trains, to make the programme work. It is still a lot of cycling!
I may not blog on a daily basis (as it can become a real drag – on time and battery), but I will do regular updates.
Watch this space….
I didn’t upload a map with each (or any) of my posts, so here are a couple of more detailed ones.

I have just shown your route to all the people telling me I’ll be on an adventure. Now they think I’m sane and sensible, after all. ☺
