I started to think about where to go this year, both the trip to Finland/Norway and John O’Groats to Lands End, took some planning and flying with my bike – which is loads of hassle. This year I thought a nice circular ride from home, and back home would be in order, and avoid any hassles.
I have cycled bits of the Loire Cycle route around Tours and it seems very nice – magnificent châteaux, good wine and a mainly dedicated signposted cycle way. On the map I managed to join up two places I wanted to go – the St Nazaire Submarine Pens and the boulders of the Fontainebleau forest. It creates a perfect two week circular ride, with both ferries being within a days ride of home.
