Update – Route Map (Black – cycling, Green – Train, Pink – Boat)

I’m flying with my bike to Helsinki and the airline insists on a hard case or box. So today I made a box for the bike – a fine piece of plywood craftsmanship and I only need to add some sort of handles (I have an idea). The dismantled bike fits inside nicely and will just need packing out with foam.

It takes about 10 minutes to strip down. Wheels and saddle off – quick release, pedals unscrewed, unbolt steering tube & handlebars and fold it in half. Assembly is reverse, it just needs three hands and the headset setting up.

Fingers crossed that this meets the airline’s requirements.

And a picture of the loaded bike, the first time I will ride this properly will be in Finland! I do feel rather un-prepared!
